Immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of Apoala and its majestic waterfalls, canyon and forest with ValTerra Excursions. In this unforgettable CAMPING adventure, you'll get to spend the night on the river bank in the Apoala forest, wake up to the soothing sound of the river and birds singing, hike through a stunning canyon and towering rock walls, explore the river, take a dip in a few hidden pools, and marvel at gorgeous waterfalls amidst the beauty of nature; offering the perfect opportunity to connect with nature. This excursion starts in the late afternoon so that it won't get in the way with other activities you might have earlier, allowing you to experience the incredible natural wonders of Apoala. We'll meet in downtown Oaxaca at 4:00 PM to begin our journey through the Mixtec mountains (2:30 hr. drive,120 km). Once we arrive, dinner will be served at 8 pm. Our team will set up the camp for the group while you enjoy the evening. In the morning, we'll start the day with a delicious local breakfast to get ready for the hike of the day. First, we'll hike upstream to the Twin Rocks Canyon where you’ll discover impressive towering rock walls covered with Maguey, and other vegetation such as air plants clinging to the edges. Then, we'll hike down the river to find hidden pools where we all will get a chance to take a dip and take in the amazing landscape. Then, we will start the return by hiking upstream until we find the majestic waterfalls where we will get to take a dip in the waterfall lake as well. Finally, we will start to head out of the valley, pack up and begin the ride back to Oaxaca. On the way back, we'll stop at the Nochixtlan local market for lunch at 2:30 pm and get back to the city at 4 pm approx. REQUIREMENTS: - The activity level is moderate. - The skill level is beginner to intermediate. - Guests ages 16 and up can attend. ABOUT THE HIKE: - Distance: 6+ km. / 4 miles total approx. - Hike time: 3:30 hrs. approx. - Elevation: around 2,000 mt. - Elev. gain: 250+ mt.
